Our Rector, Rev Steve, lives in Trenton, with his wife Marilou, and their son Matthew.

While Matt works in Trenton, and lives at home, three of thier children have moved out, but often find time to brighten their Dad's day by showing up at home to visit.  Their oldest, Shannon is married to Brandon and lives in New York City.  Their oldest son Christopher is married to Jocelyn and is beginning an engineering career in Belleville.  John, is studying Engineering at Queens University. Steve also adores being the loved Papa of three wonderful grandchildren.

After much prayer and soul searching Steve felt led to be a part of founding St James Anglican Fellowship in Trenton.  He resigned his license to function in the Anglican Church of Canada and was immediately licensed by the Rt. Rev Charles Masters, then the Diocesan Bishop of the Anglican Network in Canada.

Steve is passionate about God's amazing love for us all, and loves to preach and teach about Jesus in groups large and small.  He finds it amazing that God loves each of us so much, and endeavors to help others encounter the living God in fresh and real ways, and to learn from them.  Steve is a hands on kind of guy who will jump in up to his elbows, but loves to sit and have coffee quietly and share life's journey too.

Before feeling led to join  St James Fellowship, Steve had been the Deacon in charge of the Parish of Kingston North, the Incumbent of the Parish of the Rideau, of St. John’s Bath, and of the Anglican Churches of Quinte West in the Anglican Church of Canada.  Steve has had a number of other diocesan responsibilities prior to joining the Anglican Network over the years. He was the Regional Dean of Leads and Grenville, the Chair of the Communications and Information Technology Committee of the Diocese of Ontario, a synod council member, a facilitator and nationally accredited trainer in the Fresh Start Program, and a delegate to the General Synod of the Anglican Church of Canada.

Steve has retired from being a Chaplain with the Canadian Armed Forces.   He has served with 21 Electronics Warfare Regiment, the Canadian Joint Signals Regiment, 1 Engineering Support Unit, and The Royal Canadian Dragoons as well as assisting many other units.

The Timpson's lived and worked in a number of different spots before Steve heard the call to become a minister. He graduated from Queens Engineering, in April 1984 and had a varied and successful career in engineering before leaving it to train for the ministry. Beginning at the Alcan Research Center in Kingston, he moved through a variety of positions in both technical and management roles and has worked in Kingston, Toronto, Gananoque, Kitimat BC, Whitefish Montana, and Sundsveld Sweden.

After Jesus, and playing with grandchildren, sailing and bicycling are two of Steve's passions, although he sometimes has trouble finding the time to either ride his bike or go sailing. When he can find time, Steve can be found riding along the back roads early in the morning or at supper time, and sometimes he can be found sailing on Brighton Bay or out into Lake Ontario.

In the summer of 2002, Steve spent a month living and working with the people of the Anglican Church of Kenya, near Thika outside of Nairobi, and found that as North American's we have much to learn from the African Church.  More recently Steve has also taught and preached in the Diocese of Tarime in Tanzania, and values very much our relationship with Christians around the world. Rev Steve was made a Canon of the Cathedral Church of St Luke in Tarime Tanzania in 2016.

Through all his travel's, Steve has been constantly amazed at the way God is there in power where ever we are and how he reaches out to us all. Whether we are worshiping God in a traditional church, admiring his majesty in the mountains and lakes, or caring for our children, we were made to BE God's children, and are only complete when we recognize and respond to this.
